Look at the connectives underlined in the text that follows and ask yourself the 3 questions above for each one. For each connective, find an alternative connective and write it in the table below. Pay attention to the word order which may change when you change the connective.

There are several ways to do this. Students may draw arrows from the cohesive ties to the words they replace, write the antecedent above the cohesive tie, or write the same number over words that are linked.
