Battle Royale: Kilencedik kötet és a karakterek dinamikája a Program nyomában

Battle Royale Vol. Unwilling to bow down to the oppressive confines of The Program, basketball star Shinji develops a plan to deliver his hand-made bombs directly to enemy HQ. All that's left is to put that plan into action. ""Taguchi's straight-ahead storytelling and Giffen's superior adaptation make the gore easy to follow. The book's scenes of torture, implied rape and killing combine the horror and extreme violence of A Clockwork Orange with Lord of the Flies' exploration of human nature and depravity and aren't for the faint of heart."" -- Publishers Weekly

Battle Royale Volume 7: v. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Having narrowly escaped their encounter with the brutal Kazuo, Shuuya and Hiroki tend to their injuries while other players take center stage. Shinji Mimura and Yutaka Sato have quietly assembled a bomb for the express purpose of destroying the "school" that serves as The Program's command center. Everything is in place, all they need do is deliver it, but in the world of Battle Royale, nothing is ever so simple. An encounter with another classmate causes Yutaka to question his trust in Shinji, but the real trouble arrives in the form of one Kazuo Kiriyama. Having lost Shuuya and Hiroki, Class B's most feared student is angry and frustrated, a dangerous combination for a man with a machine gun. With the element of surprise on his side, Shinji and Yutaka have little chance of seeing the morning, but maybe, with a little luck, they can take the murderous Kazuo with them.

4,221 reviews1,668 followersJanuary 17, 2026 The best volume of the series focuses on Mimura and diminutive sidekick Yutaka as they attempt to disable the entire network of explosive control neck collars. Their finally get ready to act when a face from their past turns up stirring the pot. And all this is happening as the remaining 21 players roam the island intent on teaming up, or in most cases cold-blooded murder! The series worked so much better focussing on characters whose characterisation had been built more in the present that solely in back stories like most of the cast. This one is heating up on a truly emotional level. A Four Star, 8 out of 12 manga jam.

2026 readdystopia-it-all-went-cray-cray manga365 reviews70 followersJanuary 29, 2022 This is the 15-year-old villain of the series, Kiriyama. The true blue psychopath who has no emotions and just kills for the sake of killing. Typical Gen Z behaviour. 😅 He's a 6th dan black belt or something like that, ran a high school Yakuza gang, and uses his school jacket as a cape that is always billowing dramatically in the wind. In the image above, he has just survived an explosion by hiding in a pickup that was blasted by a bomb and sent flying. After that, he dodged a close-range bullet to the face, all without so much as mussing up his hair and cape.

Like, I get that the author isn't even trying to be realistic at this point as he tells his dystopian shounen jump story, and I get that he probably thought Kiriyama was a cool villain, but he's just... not cool. The whole thing is very try-hard. I'm honestly starting to feel like the author never met an actual 15-year-old high school student before doing this. He spent two volumes developing Shinji and this bomb for absolutely no payoff. Why?

It's a short quick read and I'm halfway through so I might as well persevere until the end of the series, but this is starting to seriously feel like a waste of my time.857 reviews47 followersJanuary 20, 2017

Another solid 4/5 installment in the series. I really should've written down what happened in each volume, because they're starting to run together and I'm having trouble remembering how the story is divided up (and therefore having trouble comparing the volumes). Either way, this was definitely a solid one, but not up to the level set by the best volume so far (vol 4), so it's about 8.5/10 or 8/10. Not 100% sure. Somewhere around there, though.
