Why do we need free time activities?

Free time is any period of time in which people can take off their most important duties (school, work, household). The most important thing about spare time is to recharge your batteries after a hard day or week.

If you don’t forget about your duties and responsibilities in your free time, you can suffer from stress, develop depression and you can also experience physical symptoms, such as weight loss, hair loss, insomnia, etc. For this reason, it is important to find activities that help us relax and recover.

Active and passive leisure activities

We can distinguish between active and passive free time activities. Active activities include sports, outdoor activities, hiking trips, bicycle tours, gardening or even chopping wood - they refresh your mind and body and they are the best choice if you do white-collar jobs.

Passive activities include simple relaxation things, like watching TV, going out in the evening or even sleeping, and this is the most suitable for manual workers. Both types of free time can be useful, depending on the kind of work people do and on how tired they are.

We are 4 in our close family, my parents and my elder sister. We always share the work and try to help each other.

She especially good at cooking and she loves to do it. My mum work a lot but if she doesn’t work, she cleans the house and does the washing up.

Downstairs there is a big living room which has three large windows and huge glass sliding doors leading to the terrace. My mother works at home so the fourth room is her home office.

My room is upstairs between my brother's and parents’ bedrooms. There is also a study for me and my brother but sometimes our father spends his free time surfing the net there.

I think we have a lot of devices which help the everyday, but maybe I would like a dish-washer. That is true that it uses a lot of water but I don’t like washing up and I just put the tableware into it and I save a lot of time.
