Nyaralás angolul – angol érettségi tétel és hasznos kifejezések

A nyaralás témakörében angolul be kell tudnod mutatni egy utazás előkészületeit, a közlekedési lehetőségeket, a szállást, a programokat, az étkezést és a külföldön előforduló hétköznapi helyzeteket. Érdemes kitérni arra is, hogyan választottad ki az úti célt, kikkel utaztál, hogyan telt az út, milyen élményeket szereztél, és milyen érzésekkel tértél haza.

A középszintű angol érettségi célja, hogy felmérje, mennyire tudsz hétköznapi helyzetekben kommunikálni angolul. Nem kell tökéletes nyelvtudás, de folyamatosan és érthetően kell beszélned!

Travelling abroad - utazás külföldre

Travelling abroad has become much easier in the past 20 years, because it is more simple to plan your trip based on the information you can find on the internet. In the past only wealthy people could afford holidays but these days many people go abroad. The seaside in the summer, and ski resorts in the winter are the most popular destinations for Hungarians.

Young people often travel to find out more about the world. Backpackers are interested in exotic places and different cultures. These days it is possible to travel on a budget and families often go on package holidays to Greece, Italy or Croatia. Travelling on business is different; trips are often short, hectic and tiring.

We can see more and more pensioners going on holiday tours, visiting famous cities and beauty spots. After retiring, it is easier to go abroad because they don’t have a job to worry about and they can avoid the summer crowds. In Hungary, however, many elderly people cannot afford to go abroad because pensions are low.

How do you prepare for a holiday?

Summer is a period for having fun. Most people consider summer the ideal time for a holiday because the weather is warm, the sun is shining, it gets dark late so there are lots of opportunities for outdoor activities.

Planning a holiday isn’t an easy thing to do. If you want everything to go smoothly you’d better start preparing for it well in advance. Some people start their holiday preparations in winter already and spend plenty of time with finding the best and most affordable accommodation, while others hunt for last minute bargains and take the cheapest possible option.

Of course, for the latter you need quite a bit of flexibility and a place of work that is willing to let you go on holiday on a very short notice. Whether you go in for package tours or individual travels is your personal preference. Both options have their pros and cons.

A nyaralás megszervezése

How do you usually organize your family holidays? We usually choose the destination, program, and activities together. My mother books the accommodation on the Internet. Our family tries to avoid the peak tourist season and crowded places when traveling anywhere.

In the age of the Internet it’s fairly easy to find and book accommodation. There are webpages where you can read other people’s reviews and opinions about virtually everything you might ask, and you can make a decision on the basis of them.

What do you do to make your holiday more enjoyable? We always buy travelogues, and research our holiday destination on the Internet. I search the Internet to find out about admission fees to museums, and attractions or sights in the area. Checking the weather forecast or special customs can make our stay more pleasant.

When and what do you pack? My family never makes a packing list, and I always prepare the luggage the night before departure. If it is a summer holiday, I always pack clothes that don’t wrinkle and suntan lotion.

A rolling bag can be very practical. A backpack and sleeping bag can be very useful.

In the European Union, personal documents are necessary to identify yourself: you need an ID card or a passport. Before going abroad to other parts of the world, always check if you need a visa.

What travel documents and papers might you need? We always check whether or not our passports have expired. If we travel by car we have to take my father’s driving licence and obtain a motorway sticker.

Forgetting about medical insurance credit card or reservation confirmations can spoil your vacation. Besides organizing travel and accommodation, it is a good idea to take out travel insurance.

Teendők otthon indulás előtt

What do you have to arrange at home? Make sure you have someone pick up the post, unplug electrical items, and water the plants before going on holiday. Arrange for someone to house-sit or mow the lawn.

Don’t forget to lock the doors and windows, store valuables in secure places, and move houseplants away from direct sunlight.

Úti cél és szállás kiválasztása

The scale of accommodation is huge, from five-star hotels to couch surfing and Airbnb depending on what you can afford and what you’re comfortable with. If you choose couch surfing or Airbnb you might experience a special insight into the local culture of the country or the city that no five-star hotel would be able to provide you with.

Your host might take you on a sightseeing tour and show you the sights and curiosities from the insider’s point of view, can cook you a meal or may just be a good companion to talk to in the evenings. Lasting friendships may be formed in this way and you can keep in touch even after the holiday is over.

Package tours on the other hand have other kinds of advantages. You don’t have to organize anything because everything is taken care of for you. All the little details are arranged, you’re just shown the beautiful pictures at the travel agency and have to pick the place that best suits you.

After you’ve paid the price your only concern is to pack your bags and decide what to take with you and what to leave at home. However, if you like the liberty of making decisions and spontaneity, that’s not the right way of travelling to choose.

In a group there’s always some kind of difficulty. People are different, they behave and talk differently. What’s evident and basic for somebody might sound to be outrageous for someone else.

People can be rude, loud and inconsiderate and it’s not easy to relax in a stressful atmosphere. In a group someone is always late in the morning and doesn’t get back on time during the day. Not to mention the delicate question of toilet breaks on the way which can take up more time than you would imagine.

Az idegenvezető szerepe

On package tours there’s usually a guide that you can turn to in case a problem arises, but sometimes they’re still unable to help you even if they do their best.

The advantage of having a guide for the whole journey is that you don’t have to get involved in official business. It’s the guide who talks to the driver, to the receptionist at hotels, he or she pays the entrance fees and buys the tickets wherever they’re needed.

From the point of view of speaking and practising a foreign language package tours aren’t very advantageous. It may happen that even if you’re for example in Great Britain, you won’t utter a word in English apart from some greetings because the guide does the job for you.

On the other hand, guides relate to you various pieces of interesting information while you’re travelling. If you prick your ears you will hear and learn things that you would otherwise never come across if you travelled on your own.

Közlekedés a nyaralás alatt

Accommodation is a crucial point in a holiday and so is the means of transport you take. Time is an important factor to take into consideration.

Flying takes up the least time, but of course it’s the most expensive way to get to your destination. If you’re lucky though and book flights in time you may travel with budget airlines for a really small amount of money.

Bus rides and travelling by car are time consuming and sometimes exhausting especially if you have to cover long distances. On the other hand you see much more on the way and you can take amazing photos as well.

Whichever way of travelling you decide on, you have fun times ahead. Adventures are waiting on the way, so don’t hesitate to take the trouble to do all the necessary arrangements so that you can have the time of your life this summer.

Természetesen kellemetlen, ha nem találunk valamit, s gyorsabb, ha rákérdezünk. Ételallergiások a kerülendő hozzávalók nevének is nézzenek utána!

Az étteremben néhányan már hazai terepen is zavarban vannak. A különféle hozzávalók és italfajták között nehéz eligazodni.

Külföldön ez az izgalom fokozódik, főleg, ha az étlap fantázianevekkel tarkított. Ne féljünk kérdezni, ha valami nem világos! A pincérek legtöbbször türelmesek, hiszen sok turistával találkoznak.

Érdemes a nyaralás alapinformációit megadni. Kikkel mentem, hogyan esett erre a helyre a választás, hogyan utaztunk, milyen volt az út, és hogyan töltöttük.

Nem érdemes szűkölködni a szavakkal, minél több részletet árulunk el, annál jobb benyomást teszünk. Természetesen egyszerű múlt igeidőben érdemes elmesélni az egész történetet.

Az utazás és az érkezés

I would like to speak about the most memorable holiday of my life. Last year me and my class travelled to Italy and we stayed there for a week. Just for your information, this is a tradition at my school that 12th graders take a trip to Italy.

We travelled by bus, we decided to set off at midnight and it took more than 12 hours to get there, and the journey was terrible. We stopped very rarely at gas stations and each stop lasted for at least an hour.

However, we had a very good time on the bus, we were watching films, listening to music and sometimes we even sang a few songs just to kill time. We didn’t sleep a second and we were talking all the way and the bus driver was very annoyed by this.

We crossed Slovenia on the way there, which was breathtaking because we got to see huge mountains and we could eat traditional Slovenian foods at a petrol station.

Finally we arrived at around noon at a place called Cavallino, which is a seaside place and it is also very famous for its marketplace. We occupied the accommodation which was in caravans. Four of us stayed in one caravan and we had lots of fun there.

Programok és látnivalók

A következőkben érdemes kitérni a nyaralás során átélt élményekre. Az érkezés pillanatai, a szállás, a lakótársak, szabadidős tevékenységek, kötött programok, a látott városok, látványosságok és az időjárás mind nagyon fontosak, nem érdemes kihagyni őket!

On the first day we went down to the beach, and although the weather was cold, we still had a good swim in the sea, and one of my friends took a lot of photos.

Next morning we went to a marketplace and I bought a very good quality t-shirt, and in the afternoon we spent our time by the sea again.

On day three we went to Venice, which is a fascinating town full of history and beautiful buildings. We argued a lot but finally we decided to take a gondola-ride with my friends and it was amazing.

On the remaining days we headed for Padova which is also a great city. We also visited Verona and Sirmione, and took a stunning boat-ride on Lake Garda.

When we didn’t travel, we were hanging out by the sea, and at night we had very good conversations.

The food and the people are just awesome in Italy. Everybody is very kind, and the pizzas and pastas are definitely something you shouldn’t miss.

Végezetül összegezzük, milyen érzésekkel is töltött el minket az ott töltött idő. Beszéljük az összepakolásról, a hazaútról, és zárjuk a témát egy jövőre néző összegzéssel.

We were very sad when the last day came but we were also happy because we knew that this would be a memory for a lifetime. We packed our luggage and set off for home.

The journey was even more tiring than the way there, and everybody was really exhausted. When I got home, I slept until noon, and woke up wanting to turn back time and start the whole vacation over.
